Genesis 22, the account of Abraham nearly sacrificing his own son, Isaac, is shocking and often insensible to contemporary readers. Islamic scholars are divided over whether it was Isaac or Ishmael whom Abraham was commanded to sacrifice. But they are united in the belief that Abraham was justified before God because of his obedience. However, this is actually the climax of Abraham's life story, showing that in spite of his frequent moral failures, God is patient with His children and will always save those who trust in Him. Come join us on Sunday at Beacon Communities as we see how clearly the Christian Gospel is foreshadowed through this surprisingly relevant, ancient story!
